Kyururin te shitemite - Special♡Spell Winks

Context

I'm a relatively new fan of Kyurushite, only really bothered to check them out at the end of 2024 before fully getting into them by the start of 2025. It took me quite a while to give them a go because shamefully enough, I felt that the girls appearance gave off heavy impression that they eat babies, to which at that time I wasn't really fully comfortable with the whole baby-eating ordeal yet, though nowadays I'd even volunteer to be the baby, but thats besides the point. After consuming all of their content like a starving child, I've grown quite fond of Uta at the point where I'd consider her my top 5 oshi which might sound crazy since I've known her for less than a year, but I digress. My fondness of Uta eventually led to me checking out her tiktoks which to my surprise, featured a quite a number of winks which I admit does feel bit unnatural at times, but I gobble them up the same nonetheless. Then 13th of July hit & Kyurushite had just released a new music video titled Special♡Spell, my thoughts for the mv can be summed up using the gif below:

Nevertheless, I did my usual aka I only really paid attention to Uta because I love Uta, but after rewatching the music video for god knows how many times, I realised that "huh, these girls sure do wink a lot". Thus, I decided to track them down & compile them onto a singular blog post, primarily as a reason/motivator for me to start writing something.

The girls will be sorted by ones with least to most amount of winks

Tamaki Yane (0)

Unfortunately, she doesn't seem to have any winks that's featured in the music video, at least not that I could find. Bit of a shame since I believe that any sort of winking from her will contrast perfectly with her semi-serious demeanor.

Nigemizu Amu (2)

Amu 1) 01:03

Pretty box-standard wink, yet a charming one. The finger movements add a lot by turning an average-looking wink into a hypnotising one. On top of that, her other eye also slightly closed during which can be alluring to look at. The wink also semi-act as a transition for the next scene which marks it as a pretty important one.

Amu 2) 01:11

This wink absolutely blew me away when I first saw it. It lasted less than a second and the transition from winking -> blinking felt a bit surreal. This might be the shortest wink in the entire music video, but its impact was truly felt, that is if you can catch a glimpse of it.

Shimamura Uta (3)

Uta 1) 01:57

One of the deadliest winks from the music video. The hand gesture which shows off the frilly nature of clothing alongside the movement resulting with a slight shift of clothing which ended up showing a bit more skin than usual is a true killer for most Uta bros. The change of state from looking absolutely normal to doing the winking is absolutely insane and the parasocial lyrics don't quite help it either.

Uta 2) + 3) 02:20 - 02:24

Decided to combine both of them into one because holy shit, a double whammy in 5 seconds? The first wink is nothing really too notable as it's far too quick, but this was actually a well-thought-out plan since when your brain is trying to process the wink, she hit you with an actual good one to show that she still has it in her. The second wink was what did it for me as it's a solo wink, so there will be no distractor sitting between you and her wink. You WILL see the wink whether you like it or not, which leads to this wink being the most notable one in the music video.

Chiba Yuna (3)

Yuna 1) 01:21

Bit of an unexpected one and not really in a good way in my opinion. There was a lot of downtime and the camera was zoomed into her for a bit, so it kinda serves as a good "hey look at me" type of wink, but as stated before, there's nothing going on, so you're pretty much left with a whatever type of wink and can be easily forgotten too, which seems to be a trend with most of Yuna's winks.

Yuna 2) 2:00

The blinking -> winking is crazy, not to mention the fact that this happened right after Uta's first wink too, so you're getting a double, albeit from a different person, which in my opinion makes it less impactful, but we still take these. The winking also semi-act as a transition, which you just gotta appreciate.

Yuna 3) 2:31

This feel like such a weird one honestly. The wink went by fast and the camera is currently focusing on Yane, yet shes winking anyways. Maybe it looks different in her Point of view (eg: shes looking at a different camera), but nontherless this resulted with a wink thats trying to steal Yane's presence, yet is failing to do so, worsen by the fact that shes at the back so it just make it feels bit awkward to see. This is also one of those blink and you'll miss it wink since it goes by quite quick and you might only notice Yuna at the back after the wink have ended

All in all, most of Yuna winks (in my opinion) just have a hinge of unnaturalism onto them, which is why they aren't any good or memorable

Conclusion

While yes this does feel like a large waste of time on my behalf, this experience have actually resulted with me liking the other girls more. Some may chalk this up to the doing of stockholm syndrome and I suppose I have no way to retort it, but at the end of the day it does give me a new perspective of the group where it makes me feel more appreciative of each girls value and worth to the group dynamics instead of just laser-focusing on Uta as if shes a black person in a KKK meeting.

Nah not really, Uta absolutely rules, here have a gold medal as well for the spectacular mcdouble wink combo.
